The Jacob Phelps Foundation, Inc is a 501(c)(3)
non-profit
run by volunteers who are passionate about finding a cure for pediatric
brain cancer. This foundation was founded to honor our son, Jacob
Phelps, and all other children bravely battling this horrible disease.
On July 24, 2009 our family received devastating news that our
28-month-old son, Jacob, had hydrocephalus (fluid on the brain) caused
by a mass in the back of his head. That afternoon he was
medi-vaced from Naval Hospital Oak Harbor to Seattle Children’s
Hospital. The mass turned out to be a large brain tumor classified as
group 2 ependymoma. Over the next six months Jacob endured 8 major
surgeries (two of which lasted over 10 hours each), six weeks of
chemotherapy and 31 radiation treatments- all with a smile on his face.
Jacob’s scars tell the story, and the complications from treatment
continue. He fights this disease with determination and bravery
befitting the bravest of soldiers, all while trying to live the life of
a 4-year-old boy. He is our hero and an inspiration to us.
Please help us honor Jacob and all the brave children fighting brain
cancer by funding research for a cure. Please share your time,
treasures, and talent by participating, donating, or passing the word
to
others.
Thank you for your continued support in this fight for our children!
