2012

  • From November 1st - November 11th, 2012 all tips left in the box by the register at the Chesapeake Grille and Deli in Dunkirk, MD go to the Jacob Phelps Foundation for Pediatric Brain Tumor Research. Stop by, eat some good food, and donate to a great cause!! Thank you to the Chesapeake Grille and Deli for hosting this fundraiser!
  • Thank you to everyone who supported Team Jacob in the Race for Hope - DC 2012. Team Jacob had 24 members and raised $1850 for the Race for Hope and Brain Tumor Research.
  • Thank you to all of our supporters for helping us raise awareness, promoting and participating in our fundraisers, and donating to the Jacob Phelps Foundation. Because of your support the Jacob Phelps Foundation in March 2012 donated $7000 to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in support of Pediatric Epedymoma Brain Cancer Research.

2011 Highlights

  • In May, Team Jacob participated in the 2011 Race for Hope - DC. It was inspirational to participate with so many survivors, family, caregivers, and supporters. Team Jacob had over 30 team members and raised $2425.
  • Applebee's in Oak Harbor, WA held a successful fundraiser in May. Thanks Applebee's for your support.
  • The September Causes Campaign on Facebook reached 140 people and raised $460 for research.
  • For a week in October, the tips jar at Chesapeake Grille and Deli in Dunkirk, MD was donated to the Jacob Phelps Foundation for Pediatric Brain Tumor Research. The event raised $700 for research! Thank you to everyone who helped promote and support this event.
  • The Jacob Phelps Foundation held an eBay Giving Works auction in October and November and it was a huge success.
    • Thank you to all the businesses and individuals that donated items including, A. Bevard, Charter One Hotel and Resorts, Inc, Chateau Elan, Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa, M. Diamond, Dylann Art, Hagemann Studios, Hotel Indigo - Atlanta Midtown, B. Korsmo, J. Leach, Penn-Florida Club Properties, Pitter Patter Art, Reeves Family, Joan Simonton, S'well Bottle, and Mr. Wright.
    • THANK YOU to the volunteer auction committee. The event was a success because of the hard work and dedication of each of you!
    • Finally, Thank you to all of YOU. Thank you for support to the Jacob Phelps Foundation and dedication to raise awareness for funds for pediatric brain tumor research. Thank you for bidding and spreading for word.
    • The auction had over 200 bids on 25 items and raised over $2492.

2010 Highlights

  • The Jacob Phelps Foundation donated $10,000 to the groundbreaking ependymoma research being preformed at Seattle Children's Olson Neuro-Oncology Lab.
  • We sold over 300 Recipes for a Cure cookbooks throughout the year.
  • Team Jacob participated in the North Whidbey Relay for Life on June 4th. Our team raised $3558 for the American Cancer Society. Thank you for participating, donating, and helping to raise awareness and funds for cancer research.
  • The Jacob Phelps Foundation, Recipes for A Cure, and our Participation in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life was mentioned in the opinion section of the Whidbey News Times. http://www.pnwlocalnews.com/whidbey/wnt/opinion/96485394.html
  • An August, Oak Harbor, WA garage sale raised $1110 for reseach.
  • On September 15, our local hometown newspaper, the Whidbey News Times, ran a front-page article on Jacob and the Jacob Phelps Foundation. Thank you Whidbey News Times and Justin Burnett for helping us to raise awareness for pediatric brain cancer and the need for more research funding!   • Jacob and the Jacob Phelps foundation story was featured on King 5 NBC news Seattle on September 24th. Thank you Elisa Hahn and King 5 for airing our story and for raising awareness for pediatric brain tumor research! You can view the video
  • The Jacob Phelps Foundation participated in the Run of Hope Seattleon October 3rd. The Run of Hope Seattle http://www.runofhopeseattle.com/  raises funds for pediatric brain tumor research at Seattle Children's Hospital. Team Jacob raised $2030! GO TEAM JACOB!
