Welcome

The Jacob Phelps Foundation, Inc is a 501(c)(3) non-profit run by volunteers who are passionate about finding a cure for pediatric brain cancer. The children battling this disease inspire us.The mission of the Jacob Phelps Foundation is to raise awareness and funds for pediatric brain tumor research, focusing on pediatric ependymoma brain cancer.  More research and effective treatments are needed. Please join us in raising awareness for these brave kids who cannot raise money for themselves. Visit the Get Involved Section of the website to see ways that you too can make an impact.

Some Brain Tumor Facts:

  • Every year in the United States 3,700+ kids are diagnosed with a brain tumor.*  That is 10 a day!
  • Brain Tumors are the leading cause of childhood cancer deaths.*
  • Brain and spinal cord tumors are the second most common cancers in children. - They account for about 21% of childhood cancers.**
  • The 5-year survival rate for brain and other central nervous system cancer is 69%. ***
  • Brain cancer survivors can have many short term and long term side effects including cognitive effects and other secondary malignancies. ***

Recent News

  • From November 1st - November 11th, 2012 all tips left in the box by the register at the Chesapeake Grille and Deli in Dunkirk, MD go to the Jacob Phelps Foundation for Pediatric Brain Tumor Research. Stop by, eat some good food, and donate to a great cause!!
  • Thank you to everyone who supported Team Jacob in the Race for Hope - DC 2012. Team Jacob had 24 members and raised $1850 for the Race for Hope and Brain Tumor Research.
